Making the right impact in your new role ?
Early in your IT career you probably experienced a structured induction into an organisation, designed to make you productive as soon as possible. However as you progress your career the reality is that we each have to make our own way when we move into a new role.
Once you hit management levels there is an expectation (even with promotions into roles never undertaken before) that as a self-starter you will hit the ground running. From day one you need to manage business as usual and quickly establish how you will make an impact in your new role. This is sometimes easier said than done and time is rarely on your side.
As consultants who regularly go into new environments and quickly have to assess the landscape and deliver value straight away, this is a subject close to ours heart. We have taken our experiences of the best ways to do this and produced our Arrive, Survive and Thrive framework.
Arrive, Survive and Thrive is a toolkit for managers at all levels. It's designed to support people entering new roles on quickly:
- discover and understand the organisational landscape
- maintain business as usual effectively
- identify and execute opportunities to have a positive impact.
This is of value not only to individuals but to organisations as a whole as it ensures rotations and lateral hires have the maximum chance of being successful as quickly as possible. To find out if our Arrive, Survive and Thrive framework can help you contact us.
