With so many framework and methodologies around to help organisations manage and deliver their IT investments, it is often hard to determine the best approach to take to governance.
The situation is exacerbated as the many standards and frameworks have different areas of coverage and/or areas of overlap.
Applio consultants commonly encounter environments where this, amongst other reasons, has led to a disjointed approach to IT governance. Individual functions and processes seem reasonable, in and of themselves. Too frequently though they are executed in isolation or even in conflict with other functions and processes.
To help clients address this issue Applio has developed it's own integrated governance model. Leveraging the best governance related components from a wide variety of major frameworks (including Cobit and ITIL), it provides a framework within which clients can:
- identify the level and quality of current practices
- identify where the major areas of risk and opportunity exist
- establish the roadmap and most cost effective approach to integrate its governance related activities.
Figure 1. illustrates the key components of the model.
